The Wallabies started exceptionally well in last weekend's Tri Nations rugby test in Pretoria. With just five minutes on the clock, the Aussies had ripped a few gaping holes in the South African's defence and were leading by 14 - 0. However, South Africa turned the game around in the 2^nd half and went on to win the match by a very comfortable margin. The final scoreboard read 44 -31.

So what went wrong for Australia after such a storming start? Most of the Wallabies problems arose in the second half as the team appeared to tire and mistakes began to creep into their game. This allowed the South Africans to regain their composure, tighten their defence, and concentrate on putting points on the board.

Both teams have now won a game each in the Tri Nations. However, as the Wallabies still have two matches left to play (one with the All Blacks in Sydney later this month); The Springboks find themselves one point ahead. That means this weekend's match is a vital one. But what can be expected from these two giants of international rugby?

South African Coach Peter de Villiers seems pleased with his squad's performance and it seems to be a case of 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it'. The only change to last week's team that de Villier's has made is to bring back Lock Danie Rossouw who's been out of play with a hip injury. Rossouw will replace Flip van der Merwe.

Despite obvious problems in defence, the Springboks definitely have the upper hand at the moment, and another match on home turf at altitude can only work in their favour. Will Peter de Villier's plan of not making changes pays off?

Things aren't looking too rosy in the Australia rugby camp right now. After a blistering start in Pretoria last Saturday, it all began to unravel for the Aussies in a testing second half. Tiredness, which could be attributed to the Altitude, appeared be an issue for Australia. However, the challenge of playing a highly physical game at altitude is something the Wallabies are going to have to overcome quickly if they're to stand a chance of holding back the South Africans for a full 80 minutes of hard rugby in Bloemfontein on Saturday.

New Zealand have wrapped up the Bledisloe Cup and the Tri Nations trophy, but don't mention the term "dead rubber" to the Wallabies as they prepare for Saturday's Test against the Springboks in Pretoria.

Both teams have plenty to play for as they try to bounce back from hard-fought losses to the All Blacks. The Springboks are hoping to break a run of four losses in this year's tournament, and Australia are desperate for a win to take some heat off the team and the coaching staff. More importantly, the Wallabies have to start winning on the road, which is exactly what they’ll have to do if they’re to win the 2011 Rugby World Cup in New Zealand.
