For a team that has always had plenty of talent, it comes as a surprise that Spain have never made it past the quarterfinal stage of the World Cup in the last five and a half decades. They were eliminated in the Round of 16 by France at the last World Cup. At full strength, La Furia Roja can toy with opposition teams with the likes of Andres Iniesta and the imperious Xavi in midfield and Fernando Torres and David Villa upfront.
Switzerland recovered from an early loss to lowly Luxembourg as they managed to top their European qualifying group. In Ottmar Hitzfeld, they have one of the best coaches in the business. There is plenty of talent in the Swiss squad with the likes of Gokhan Inler, Valon Behrami, Tranquillo Barnetta and Eren Derdiyok present. Upfront, the Swiss will again depend on skipper Alexander Frei, with veteran Blaise Nkufo set to play a supporting role.
